News, Notes and other Hot TopicsSeptember 22, 2009 Injury & IR/PUP reports now have description files Sunday August 16, 2009 2 new individual player stats for 2009 Receiver Targets (offense) & Tackles for Loss (defense) We have just learned that Receiver Targets will be tracked by the NFL this season. As a result, we will be able to offer them in our individual offensive player stats files as well. Targets for all RBs, WRs & TEs will be included. On the defensive side of the ball, we are adding tackles-for-loss as a category for individual defensive players. We have updated our file layouts and sample files. To see them, visit http://www.quickstats.com/samples/samples.htm. Monday May 4, 2009 New for 2009! 5-digit Player IDs. We were running out of 4-digit player IDs, so this year we will be expanding the field to 5 digits. The current master player lists, zero stats files and the 2009 NFL Draft file already reflect this change. We have updated the sample files and the descriptor files which explain the file layouts in detail. You can find them by clicking here. Here's a brief summary what has changed to the file layouts.

They are easily imported into spreadsheets like Microsoft Excel and other applications. Only weekly stats will be offered in CSV format. Year-to-date stats will not be available in CSV format. A word or two about player names When looking up a player in the master lists or in the zero stats files, please note that we use the player's proper name, not his nickname. TE Boo Williams' first name is Eddie, Atlanta WR Roddy White's first name is Sharod, Carolina WR Steve Smith's first name is Stevonne, and so on. Undrafted rookie free agents - Every year, hundreds of undrafted players are invited to NFL training camps. Most of them never see the light of an NFL regular season roster. For that reason, we normally don't add undrafted rookies to the master lists until they actually make a regular season roster. Otherwise, we'd run out of ID numbers pretty quickly - with many of them going to players who'll never play in the NFL. Each season, the Sunday prior to the season's first week is the normal cutdown day for NFL teams to get their rosters down to the 53-man limit. As a result, we'll have updated master player lists and zero stats files on Monday, and we will have added all the undrafted rookies at that time.
